The download uses the photo's own pixel size, not the smaller preview. JPEG is re-encoded at quality 0.92. PNG is not. PNG keeps the transparency the photo already had. JPG has no transparency: each pixel is flattened on white, then mirrored. To type words onto the photo without uploading it, add text to an image. A round avatar is crop to a circle. Phone photos
A JPEG from the phone is rotated to the way it looks on screen, including the EXIF orientation, before the mirror. HEIC is not accepted. Export a JPEG or PNG from the phone first.
Limits
These match the current page. Flip image never uploads the photo, and a mirror is not a new picture.
- JPG, PNG, or WebP only, up to 25MB, at most 8,192 px on a side, and at most 24 megapixels. A larger file is refused so the full-size export can finish in the browser. HEIC is not accepted.
- On screen the preview's long side is at most 1,400 px. The download is the photo at its own pixel size, not that preview. The width and the height do not change.
- Horizontal starts on. It swaps left and right: the pixel on the left edge moves to the right edge. Vertical starts off. It swaps top and bottom. Either switch can be turned on or off.
- Live mirror preview starts on. While it is on, the canvas updates when a switch changes. While it is off, the canvas shows the photo as it was opened. The download still follows the switches, including when the preview is off.
- With both switches off, the download is the upright photo. PNG keeps its alpha. JPG still flattens each pixel on white.
- With both switches on, each pixel moves to the opposite corner. A pixel at the top left lands at the bottom right. The file is not rotated by 90°, and it is not cropped.
- PNG keeps the alpha the photo already had, in the mirrored position. JPG flattens each pixel onto white before it is written, so a transparent pixel becomes white and then moves with the mirror.
- JPEG downloads are re-encoded at quality 0.92. PNG is not. If this browser cannot encode a JPEG, the download is a PNG of the same pixels, and transparency stays.
- The preview mirrors with canvas scale, so a browser without newer canvas path methods still shows the mirror. The download does not use that transform. It copies pixels with the same left-right and top-bottom rule.
- A JPEG from the phone is rotated to the way it looks on screen, including the EXIF orientation, before the mirror. Words in the photo read backwards after a horizontal mirror.
