Restore Old Photos Online: Remove Scratches, Tears and Fading

Upload a damaged print and preview a repair of scratches, tears, creases and fading. Free watermarked preview, no sign-up. $1.99 downloads this one restored file.

  • Scratches and tears
  • Before/after
  • Free preview
  • $1.99 HD, no signup

Not for ID photos or portraits where the real face has to stay the same.

Memorial portraits need extra care. The repair can change a face. Keep the original scan.

JPG, PNG or WebP. Photos over 1440px on the long side are reduced before restoration. The HD download is the restored file, not a larger version.

How to Restore an Old Photo

  1. Upload the scan

JPG, PNG or WebP up to 25MB. No account. The upload box is on this screen.

  2. Wait for the repair

The page checks progress in the background. You do not need to keep a long request open.

  3. Compare the face

Look at the original and the restored photo side by side, or drag the slider. Check the face before you pay.

  4. Download this result

$1.99 with no account, or 1 credit, unlocks the restored file already made. It does not run the model again.

What Old Photo Restoration Fixes

Old photo restoration online free is for physical damage: scratches, tears, creases, folds, spots, and fading or yellowing. Upload the scan, compare the before and after, and download a watermarked preview with no account. Antique photo restoration and restore old photos free are the same job on this page.

The repair is generative. It can change a face, a pattern, or a small detail, and it will not perfectly recover how someone looked. It is the wrong tool for an ID photo or a memorial portrait where the face has to stay the same. Heavy damage may only improve a little. Keep the original scan. A shaky photo is a different problem — use unblur. A photo that is only too small can be enlarged after the repair.

What the $1.99 Download Actually Is

The preview is free and watermarked, up to 1024px on the long side. The paid file is the restored image the model returned for this one photo, with no ZeroBG watermark.

  • Not for a photo where the real face has to stay. That includes ID photos, passport photos, and memorial portraits. Compare the face with your original before you pay. This page does not promise that the person will look the same.
  • It is not an upscale and it is not your upload's original pixel size. Photos are sent in at up to 1440px on the long side. The result page shows the restored file's real width and height.
  • $1.99, or 1 HD credit, unlocks that stored file only. It does not buy a second repair.
  • One free preview per device per day, and one per network. A failed run does not use the free preview. A run that reached the model still counts as one try. Repeats pause until 00:00 UTC.
  • A black-and-white photo may come back in color. This page is not a color-only converter, and there is no switch to keep it black and white. A scan that only needs color, with no damage to fill, belongs on the AI photo colorizer.
  • Do not expect a perfect restoration or a true likeness. Severe tears and missing areas are filled in, which means the model is guessing. Keep the original.
  • Motion blur stays on the unblur tool. Extra pixels stay on the image upscaler.

Old Photo Restoration FAQ

Is photo restoration online free?

The watermarked preview is free, with no sign-up, and limited to one success per device each day. $1.99 with no account downloads the restored file for that one result. A free account includes 1 HD credit. Packs are $4.99 for 20 credits or $9 for 100.

Will it remove scratches, tears and fading?

That is the job of this page. Light scratches, creases and yellowing usually improve. Deep tears and missing pieces are filled by a generative model, so the fill can be wrong. It will not perfectly restore a face.

Can I use this on an ID photo or a memorial portrait?

Not when the face has to stay the same. The model fills damage by guessing, and a face can come back looking different. Compare the preview with the original before you pay. Do not use the result as an ID photo.

Will a black-and-white photo stay black and white?

Not always. The model may add color on its own. This page is for damage. To add color to a black-and-white photo as its own task, use the AI photo colorizer. There is no control here to force the original black and white.

What does the $1.99 download include?

One restored file: the image the model already returned, without the ZeroBG watermark. The page shows its pixel size. It is not a promise of your original resolution, and it is not a bundle of extra repairs.

Is this the unblur tool or the upscaler?

No. Unblur is for camera shake. The image upscaler adds pixels. This page is for scratches, tears, creases and fading. You can enlarge a repaired photo afterwards.

Do I need an account?

No. Upload and download the preview without signing up. The $1.99 download of this restored file also works without an account.
