Blur Background of Photo Online Free

Soften the background of a photo and keep the subject. It opens in the browser — no app. Free 512px watermarked preview, no sign-up. One HD PNG is $1.99.

  • No App to Install
  • Soft, Medium, or Strong Blur
  • $1.99 HD, no signup

How to Blur a Photo Background

  1. Open the page and upload

No app. JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 25MB, at most 10,000 px on a side and 50 megapixels.

  2. The subject is cut out

BiRefNet returns a cutout at the same pixel size as the file that was uploaded. The preview you see is 512px on the longest side, with a watermark.

  3. Pick a blur

Soft is 3% of the shorter side, Medium is 8%, and Strong is 16%. Medium is selected when the result opens. The radius stays between 2 px and 160 px.

  4. Soften the edge if you want

Edge soften is on. It feathers the cutout by 0.4% of the shorter side, and never less than 1 px or more than 3 px. Turn it off to keep the cutout edge as the model returned it.

  5. Download

The free file is 512px on the longest side with a watermark. HD is the cutout's pixel size, without that mark, for $1.99 or 1 credit.

Blur the Background, Keep the Subject

Blur background of a photo online free, in the browser, with no app to install. Upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP. The same BiRefNet cutout used by the free background remover separates the subject. This page then blurs your original photo and lays the subject back on top. That is an auto blur background: you do not paint a mask, and you do not install anything.

Blur background online here means the scene stays in the frame. It is not a new picture, and it is not a solid color. A flat white, black, red, or blue fill is the photo background changer. A color behind a cutout or a transparent PNG is the background adder. A headshot that should be cut out, rather than left on a soft room, is the portrait background remover. A shaky photo that needs sharpening is unblur, which is a different job.

The free file is a blur background png only up to 512px on the longest side, and it carries a ZeroBG watermark. Blur background hd is the cutout's own pixel size, with no watermark, for $1.99 with no account or 1 credit. Paying does not run the cutout again. The blur is applied in this browser after that HD cutout is downloaded. We do not store a second blurred file. Photo background blur online free is the preview. The full-size file is the paid one.

When a Soft Background Fits

A person in a busy room

The room stays, but it is softer, so the person reads first. This does not retouch the face.

A product on a table

The table and the wall stay in the frame. They are blurred. The product is the cutout laid back on top.

A portrait you do not want on a flat color

A solid color is a different page. This one keeps the original scene.

What Makes the Edge Easier

  • A subject that stands apart

Hair, fur, glass, and mesh are the hard edges. Check the 512px preview before you pay. Paying does not run the cutout again.

  • Use the largest original

HD keeps the pixels you upload. A screenshot of a screenshot stays small. The 512px preview is only for checking the edge and the blur.

  • Stay in this browser to pay

When you start the $1.99 checkout, the original photo is kept only in this browser (not uploaded again) for 24 hours, so the blur can be added after you pay. Another browser, or this one after 24 hours, can still download the transparent cutout you paid for, without the blur.

  • Fix a nick with the brush

Touch up paints the original pixels back or erases a leftover bit of background. The brush is free, and downloading that same HD file again does not spend another credit.

Limits

These match the current product. The blur is a browser Gaussian blur of your photo, not a lens simulation.

  • Uploads are JPG, PNG, or WebP, up to 25MB, at most 10,000 px on each side, and at most 50 megapixels.
  • The free preview is 512px on the longest side and has a watermark. It is the blurred composite of that preview, not a full-size file.
  • Free previews share the site-wide daily cap: 5 per device and 15 per IP, and 30 a day after you sign in. The cap resets at 00:00 UTC. A failed run that never starts the model is returned; once the model run exists, that attempt stays counted.
  • The HD file is a PNG at the uploaded resolution, with no watermark, for $1.99 with no account or 1 credit. A new account includes 1 credit. Packs are $4.99 for 20 or $9 for 100. Pack credits do not expire. Subscription credits reset each month.
  • Soft is 3% of the shorter side, Medium is 8%, and Strong is 16%. Medium is the default. The radius is never under 2 px or over 160 px, so on a very large photo Medium and Strong can both land on 160 px.
  • Edge soften is on by default. It is 0.4% of the shorter side, clamped to 1–3 px. It does not repair hair, fur, glass, or mesh.
  • The blur can fade the outer edge of the photo slightly, because it mixes with the empty area outside the frame. The subject is drawn on top at the cutout's own pixels.
  • This page does not install an app, does not replace the background with a solid color, and does not sharpen a shaky photo.

Blur Background of Photo FAQ

Can I blur a photo background online without installing an app?

Yes. Open this page in a browser on a computer or a phone, upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP, and the blur is drawn here. There is no app to install.

What does the free preview include?

A watermarked PNG up to 512px on the longest side, with no account, inside the daily cap of 5 per device and 15 per IP (30 a day once you are signed in). One full-size file with no watermark is $1.99 with no account, or 1 credit. A new account includes 1 credit. Packs are $4.99 for 20 or $9 for 100.

Does the HD download run the cutout again?

No. The cutout is already made. $1.99 or 1 credit unlocks that file. The blur is applied in this browser after the HD cutout downloads. We do not store a second blurred file.

How strong is the blur?

Three steps. Soft is 3% of the shorter side, Medium is 8%, and Strong is 16%. Medium is selected when the result opens. The radius stays between 2 px and 160 px.

What does soften the edge do?

It feathers the cutout by 0.4% of the shorter side, and never less than 1 px or more than 3 px. It is on by default. Turn it off to keep the edge the model returned. It does not fix hair, fur, glass, or mesh.

Will this look like a phone's portrait mode?

No. The background is a Gaussian blur of your photo. It does not copy a lens, and it can fade the outer edge of the frame slightly. The subject can still show a hard cut where the model missed hair or glass.

What if I pay on a different device?

When you start the $1.99 checkout with no account, a copy of your original photo is kept only in this browser's storage, for 24 hours, and is not uploaded again. Within that time, the same browser can download the blurred HD file after you pay. Another browser, or this one after the copy is gone, can download the transparent cutout you paid for, without the blur.
