WebP to JPG Converter
Convert WebP to JPG in this browser. Set JPEG quality and a color for transparent pixels, then download one JPG or a ZIP of up to 30 files. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no watermark.
- Quality slider, default 92
- Color behind transparency
- Batch ZIP, no upload
How to Convert WebP to JPG
Add WebP files
Up to 30 files, 25MB each. Non-WebP files are allowed when the browser can decode them, with a note on the row.
Set quality and the fill
Quality opens at 92 and can move from 50 to 100. White is the fill when the page opens. Black and a custom color are next to it.
Convert again after a change
Moving the slider does not rebuild files by itself. Convert again rewrites the batch with the new quality or the new color.
Download
One JPG saves directly. Several JPGs save as a ZIP. Each row also has its own download button.
Make a JPG From the WebP the Browser Saved
Webp to jpg is for the form, the printer, or the old app that only wants a JPEG. This webp to jpg converter decodes the WebP in the browser and encodes a JPG here. The picture is not uploaded. Sign-in is not required. The file has no watermark.
The WebP usually arrived from Save image as. Chrome and other browsers store the format the site sent, and that format is often WebP because it is smaller than JPEG at a similar look. Your camera roll is still mostly JPEG. Your Downloads folder is where the WebP files collect. The WebP article on Wikipedia explains the format. This page only converts it.
A WebP can be lossy, like JPEG, or lossless, and it can contain transparency or a short animation. The JPG you download is a still, opaque JPEG. Transparent pixels are painted with the color you choose. An animation contributes its first frame and nothing after that. Both of those limits are properties of JPG, not surprises added by the page.
If you needed the transparent pixels, stop and use WebP to PNG instead of flattening them. A subject cut out of a scene is the background remover, which uploads the picture and returns a transparent PNG. A .jfif file that is really a JPEG with a different name is JFIF to JPG.
Save Image As, and the JPG the Form Wanted
You can look at a photo on a product page and reasonably expect Save image as to write a JPG. If the server used WebP, the saved file is WebP, and the upload form on another site then says the type is not allowed. Webp to jpg is that missing step: a JPEG with a .jpg name, made locally.
This does not guarantee the form will accept the JPEG. Some forms also check pixel size or file size. What this page can say is that the download is a JPEG, not a WebP renamed to .jpg. Renaming alone leaves WebP bytes in the file, and a checker that reads the header will still reject it.
First Frame, Then a Flat Color
Animated WebP becomes one JPEG: the first frame this browser decodes. The loop is not copied, and there is no way to pick frame 12. Convert one animation first if you need to see which frame you will get.
Transparent WebP is flattened. White is selected at the start, which is the usual paper color behind a logo. Black is there for art that was designed on a dark field. A custom color uses the color control. Convert again after you switch, and compare the edge of the logo. The fill is a rectangle of color, not a traced outline.
What Quality 92 Means Here
The browser's JPEG encoder takes a quality number from 0 to 1. The slider shows 50 to 100 so it reads as a percent, and 92 is the value when the page opens. That is a high setting: more of the decoded picture is kept, and the file tends to stay large compared with the bottom of the slider.
Dragging toward 50 makes a smaller JPG and can add block edges in skies, walls, and soft shadows. Dragging to 100 makes a larger file and spends those bytes on fewer of those blocks. A lossy WebP was already compressed once, so a second JPEG pass can add a little more of that look even at 92. The page does not claim a percentage of size change. The row shows the byte size after encoding.
Before the ZIP
Logos: look at the fill
White hides a logo that was drawn in white. Switch to black, or pick a color, then Convert again.
Photos: leave 92
Drop the slider when you need a smaller file, not by default. Check the picture, not only the new size.
Animations
The JPEG is frame one. Keep the WebP beside it if the motion mattered.
Duplicate names
Two files named cover.webp become cover.jpg and cover-2.jpg in the ZIP.
Limits of WebP to JPG
Files stay in the browser. The JPG is re-encoded. It is not a bit-for-bit copy of the WebP.
- 30 files, 25MB each.
- Animated WebP exports the first frame only.
- Transparent pixels become the background color. The default is white.
- Quality opens at 92. Lower values make a smaller file and can show blocks. This page does not state a universal percentage.
- A lossy WebP cannot be restored to a quality it never stored. The JPG is a new encode of the decoded frame.
- If the browser cannot write JPEG, that download is a PNG instead, and the page says so.
- This page does not remove a background and does not upload the WebP.
WebP, JPG, and a Renamed File
| WebP | Renamed to .jpg | JPG from this page | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bytes | WebP | Still WebP | JPEG |
| Transparency | Possible | Unchanged WebP | Filled with your color |
| Animation | Possible | Unchanged WebP | First frame only |
| Header check | WebP | Fails a JPEG check | Passes as JPEG |
A form that only looks at the letters .jpg might accept a renamed file. A form that reads the file header will not.
WebP to JPG FAQ
Are my WebP files uploaded?
No. Webp to jpg is done in this browser. The JPG is created on this device.
Why not rename .webp to .jpg?
The contents would still be WebP. Anything that checks the file's type bytes would reject it. This page writes a JPEG.
What is the quality slider doing?
It sets the browser JPEG encoder. 92 is the start, near the high end, so files stay relatively large and keep more detail. Lower numbers shrink the file and can add block edges.
Where did the transparent pixels go?
Into the color you picked. JPG cannot store them. Use WebP to PNG if they should stay transparent.
Does an animated WebP stay animated?
No. You get the first frame as a still JPG. The other frames are not in the download.
Can I do a batch?
Up to 30 files, 25MB each. One file downloads as a JPG. More than one downloads as a ZIP. No watermark, no account.
Convert WebP to JPG Here
Drop WebP files. They stay in the browser. Download a JPG or a ZIP.
