How to Crop to a Circle
Choose a photo
JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 25MB, at most 8,192 px on a side, and at most 24 megapixels. The file stays in this browser.
Move the circle
It starts centered. Drag inside it to move. Drag the handle or the edge to resize. The shape stays a circle.
Add a border if you want one
Off at the start. 1 px to 48 px, step 1 px. 8 px and #111111 are the start. The line is drawn inside the circle.
Download PNG or JPG
PNG corners are transparent. JPG corners are white. The file is square, free, and has no watermark.
Crop to a Circle Without Uploading the Photo
Crop to circle online free on this page. Open it in a phone or computer browser, choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP, and the circle is drawn here. The photo is not uploaded. Crop to circle online here means one locked circle: you can drag it and change its size, and the width stays equal to the height. It starts in the center, as large as the shorter side of the photo. The download is a square PNG with transparent corners, or a square JPG with white corners. There is no watermark and no credit.
The circle is for an avatar, a profile picture, or a round frame. This page does not check a platform's pixel size, file type, or review rules, and it does not promise the file will be accepted. An optional border sits inside the circle. The width runs from 1 px to 48 px in steps of 1 px. 8 px is selected when you turn the border on, and the color starts at #111111. The border is off until you turn it on. A circle crop image with border stays on this page. There is no second URL for the outline.
The download uses the circle's own pixel size, not the smaller preview. JPEG is re-encoded at quality 0.92. PNG is not. A pixel is outside the circle when its center is past the radius, and that pixel is cleared. To mosaic or blur without cropping, pixelate an image or blur an image. A cutout of the subject, rather than a circle of the frame, is the PNG maker or remove the background. A white outline that follows the person, plus fixed chat sizes, is photo to sticker. To soften the room and keep the subject, blur the background of a photo. Those four upload the photo, and the full-size file there is paid.
When a Circle Crop Fits
An avatar
A round profile picture. Put the face in the circle, then download. This does not submit the file to a platform.
A round frame
The PNG keeps the corners transparent so a frame or a page can show through. The JPG is the same crop on white.
A badge or a logo mark
A circle of the whole frame, not a cutout that follows a product's outline.
Before you post
Download the PNG or JPG, then post that file. This page does not open another app.
Before You Download
The circle starts in the center
On a wide photo it is as tall as the photo. Drag it if the subject is off to one side. It cannot become an oval.
PNG or JPG
Use PNG when the corners should be empty. Use JPG when the file has to be a solid square. JPG fills the corners with white.
The border is optional
Leave it off for a plain circle. Turn it on for a ring inside the edge. It does not add pixels outside the circle.
Phone photos
A JPEG from the phone is rotated to the way it looks on screen, including the EXIF orientation. HEIC is not accepted. Export a JPEG or PNG from the phone first.
Limits
These match the current page. The photo is not uploaded. A circle file is not a promise that a platform will accept it.
- JPG, PNG, or WebP only, up to 25MB, at most 8,192 px on a side, and at most 24 megapixels. A larger file is refused so the full-size export can finish in the browser. HEIC is not accepted.
- On screen the preview's long side is at most 1,400 px. The download is the circle at the photo's own pixel size, not that preview.
- The circle starts centered, with a diameter equal to the shorter side of the photo. You can drag it. The smallest diameter is 32 px, unless the photo is already smaller than that.
- The width and the height of the selection stay equal. Resizing keeps a circle. If the circle would leave the photo, the center moves in until the whole circle fits.
- A pixel whose center is outside the radius is cleared. There is no extra feather on that edge. PNG writes those pixels as transparent. JPG writes them as white, and a transparent pixel inside the circle is flattened onto white before the JPEG is encoded.
- The border is off until you turn it on. The width slider runs from 1 px to 48 px in steps of 1 px. 8 px is the start, and the color is #111111 until you change it. The line is drawn inside the circle, so the file stays the same square size. On a small circle the width is capped at half the diameter.
- JPEG downloads are re-encoded at quality 0.92. PNG is not. If this browser cannot encode a JPEG, the download is a PNG of the same pixels.
- Dragging uses pointer events. The photo is marked so the page does not scroll while a finger is on the circle. A phone can drag the circle and the handle.
- This page does not install an app, does not call a model, and does not upload the photo. It does not remove the background around a person, and it does not check avatar rules for any site.
