How to Convert WebP to PNG

PNG is the interchange file a lot of those tools already list. It is lossless after the WebP has been decoded, so a photo that was a small WebP often becomes a clearly larger PNG. That is not a bug in the conversion. Lossy WebP threw information away to stay small. PNG refuses to throw more away, but it also cannot shrink back to the WebP's size.
If the WebP was a sticker or a logo, the transparent pixels stay transparent. This page does not cut a subject out of a photo. Why Chrome Saved a WebP
A page can offer the same picture as JPEG, PNG, or WebP. The browser picks the one it understands that the server marked as preferred, which is often WebP. Save image as writes that choice, not a converted JPEG. Right-clicking a photo on a shop, a blog, or a map is enough to land a .webp in Downloads.
Other browsers do the same when the site sends WebP. The file is not a special Chrome-only document. It is a WebP, and any current browser on this page can decode it. Older desktop tools are the ones that still shrug.
Animation Becomes One Frame
Some WebP files are animations: short loops, sticker packs, and the occasional banner. This page exports one still image. In current browsers that still is the first frame. Later frames are not written into the PNG, and they are not packed as a motion PNG, because PNG is not a video.
If you needed the motion, keep the WebP. This converter is for the frame you can place in a document, a form, or an editor that rejects WebP. It will not rebuild the loop.
A Larger PNG Is the Normal Outcome
People retry a webp to png conversion because the PNG is several times the WebP and they assume something went wrong. For a photographic WebP, growth is the ordinary result of moving from a lossy file to a lossless one. Flat graphics with big areas of one color grow less. The row reports the size you got. This page does not quote a percentage that would pretend every picture behaves the same.
Transparency is the other half of the choice. A WebP can be partly see-through. The PNG keeps those pixels see-through. Putting that file on a colored slide shows the slide, not a white box. If you wanted the box, the JPG page is the one that paints a color.

shot.final.webp becomes shot.final.png. Only the last extension is replaced.
Limits
Webp to png never uploads the picture. Motion is not kept.
- 30 files maximum, 25MB each.
- Animated WebP exports the first frame only. The rest of the loop is dropped.
- A lossless WebP of a photo can still become a larger PNG. That is expected.
- A lossy WebP cannot gain back detail the WebP already discarded. The PNG is faithful to the decoded frame, not to a JPEG that never existed.
- This page does not remove a background. Opaque photos stay opaque.
- A browser that cannot decode the WebP shows an error on that row. Other rows continue.
- There is no quality slider, because the output is PNG.

The site sent a WebP, and the browser stored that file. Chrome does this often. The picture on the page and the file type on disk are not always the same.
